NORWAY

A fascinating country with rich history and nature that charms visitors, Norway is definitely worth visiting at least once in a lifetime and the best way to discover it is by taking a road trip through its immense lands.

Day 1

First day – Oslo. After arriving at the airport, head directly to town and leave your bags at the unique Camillas Hus hotel. Its location couldn’t be more perfect – right next to the Palace Gardens. The rooms, uniquely decorated, blend in sync classical style and modern comfort.

Spend the day discovering Oslo. Visit the Viking Ship Museum or the Nobel Peace Center. Take a stroll through the Vigeland Sculpture Park and marvel at more than 200 sculptures by the world-famous artist. Discover the beautiful decoration at Oslo City Hall or just enjoy the day, walking around the city’s streets and soaking up the typical Norwegian spirit.

For dinner, Maaemo Restaurant with its 3 Michelin stars will definitely take you on a culinary adventure with cuisine that reflects the Norwegian spirit and combines it with the art of expression of cooking.

Day 2

After breakfast, if you have time – discover more of Oslo, if not – your flight to Alesund awaits.

A real heaven on earth, Hotel Brosundet is “a place to dream”. The goal of its owners is to create an experience and make its guests feel everything around them, and you surely will. Uniquely designed rooms, comfortable and elegant are available for guests, but if you are a couple, booking the Molja Lighthouse is definitely recommended. The romance is guaranteed!

 

Day 3

Alesund is one of the most beautiful cities in Norway and there is so much to see and do. One of the most spectacular things about it is its Art Nouveau district. Take a stroll through its streets and marvel at the beautiful and vibrant architecture. Or for the best views over the city, walk up to Fjellstua and be amazed.

In the afternoon, pack your bags and drive to Oye. Hotel Union will be your home for the next two days. The hotel was opened in 1891 and has kept its originality, combined with modern luxury and comfort. It is definitely a place where time stays still!

Day 4

The atmosphere of the hotel is one that predisposes relaxation in the typical Norwegian spirit. Spend the day relaxing in one of the various salons of the hotel, enjoy a good book and a cup of hot tea. Walk through the beautiful garden and marvel at the unique nature around you. If the weather permits it, the region is perfect for adventure hiking in the Norwegian fjords or take a swim in the nearby lake.

Day 5

Time to take the road to Solvorn and unpack your bags at the charming Walaker hotel. For the best views over the region, hiking at Molden is the best pick for an afternoon activity.

The views from the top are mesmerizing and incredibly relaxing. Don’t forget to visit the Urnes Stave Church on your way to Molden. It is the oldest stave church in the world (1130) and UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 6

Time for a little adventure. The region allows for numerous activities for all ages and tastes. If you are a rafting fan, the Jostedøla River and experienced guides await. Or take a kayak journey with professional guides through the icebergs up to the glacier and see the ice melting.

Exploring the blue ice at Nigardsbreen glacier is another activity that is incredibly interesting. You will have the opportunity to walk through the crevasses and ice towers, and learn more about nature!

 

Day 7

No road trip through Norway is complete without driving through the scenic roads of the country. Passing through the Jotunheimen National Park and offering some of the most spectacular sceneries in Norway, Route 55 is not to be missed. Driving through it, you will have the opportunity to marvel at majestic mountains, vast valleys and clear waters, before continuing on another scenic route – road 15. But before that, be sure to check out the Lom Stave Church. From Lom, drive to Geiranger and savor the beautiful nature. Route 63, about 100 km from Geiranger, runs through some of Norway’s most interesting sights and the famous “hairpin roads” before arriving at the magnificent Geiranger.

Leave your bags at the Hotel Union Geiranger and head to discover the famous Norwegian fjord. Seeming like out of a postcard, the views over the deep-blue waters and snow-covered mountain peaks will leave you breathless.

 

Day 8

Have breakfast and embark on a journey to the amazing Storseterfossen waterfall. The route is one of the most loved hiking trails in the area because of the magnificent nature.

It is time to hit the road again and enjoy another scenic route of Norway – Trollstigen or The Trolls Road, on your way to Andalsnes. This is one of the most famous routes in the country and will definitely make you feel the adrenaline of climbing up the mountain and the views that open up before you. The waterfalls and mountain slopes will accompany you on your way through numerous hairpin bends until you reach your destination – Andalsnes and the fabulous Storjord Hotel.

 

Day 9

The secluded and peaceful location of this luxury hotel makes it the perfect place to escape from your busy day-to-day lives and enjoy the tranquillity around you. The woodlands around the hotel have both longer and shorter trails for hiking or biking in the beautiful nature. The location of the hotel also allows for the exploration of two magnificent fjords. You have numerous options from exploring them by car or by private boat, or for the more adventurous people, there are rafting and kayaking opportunities. But for the most amazing views over the area, flying with a helicopter is always breath-taking.

 

Day 10

It is time to explore the world’s most beautiful drive – the Atlantic Road. The landscapes before you are spectacular and changing with the seasons. The coastal landscapes and sun sinking over the horizon during the summer days or the ocean waters, cascading over the road during stormy weather make memories for a lifetime.

After you have reached Kristiansund, explore the city before boarding your cruise ship back to Alesund. Cruising through the deep fjords and marvelling at the charming cities along the way is a great way to experience the typical Norwegian nature.

 

The Atlantic Road

Day 11

One of the main attractions nearby Alesund is the world-famous bird island – Runde. It is a great place to spend the day exploring the numerous bird species and the beautiful nature. There are various boat trips available for enjoying the island and one of those is the Wildlife Sea Safari, where you will be able to marvel at the magnificent nature and Runde’s bird colonies and puffins. You can also rent a boat and explore the island on your own. Whatever you choose, the adventure will be amazing.

 

Day 12

After breakfast, it is time to board your plane to Bergen and enjoy the city for two days. Your home away from home will be the Solstrand Hotel & Bad. Located just outside of Bergen, the area is perfect for relaxation, while soaking up the magnificent surroundings of Norway’s mountains and fjords. The SPA centre is not to be missed and there are various packages for you to choose from. It is indeed a marvellous hotel.

Don’t forget to check out Bergen. The city is filled with numerous attractions like the Bryggen – the old harbour and its incredible architecture. You can go on a boat trip and explore the fjords or board a funicular and explore the city from the top. And of course, just strolling through the cobbled, narrow streets and enjoying yourself is always recommended.
